Get your classroom set up in 5 steps
A short walkthrough for creating a school-managed educator account, spinning up your first class, and getting students reading on the same day.
- 1
Create your educator account
Sign up with your school email and select Educator as your account type. Educator accounts unlock the teacher dashboard, teacher notes on every story, and the ability to create classes.
Sign up as a teacher - 2
Open the teacher dashboard
After signing in, head to your Teacher Dashboard. This is the home base for your classes, student rosters, and per-class display settings.
Open dashboard - 3
Create your first class
Click Create Class, give it a name (e.g. Spanish 3 — Period 2) and an optional description. A unique 6-character join code is generated automatically.
- 4
Share the join code with students
Copy the join code from the class card and share it however you normally communicate with students — Google Classroom, Canvas, a slide, or written on the board. Students enter the code at
/join-classafter creating their own learner account. - 5
Tune the experience for your class
Inside each class panel you can set the default reading level (A2 / B1 / B2), toggle the English translation and vocabulary tab, and pick a theme. These settings apply to every enrolled student automatically.

School-managed accounts & student privacy
When you create a class, you act as the School Official under FERPA and the consenting party for any student under 13. We collect only what's needed to run the class — no ads, no selling student data, and we don't use student data to train AI models.
